橘子系列是黃館長畫作的重要主題，由早期靜物素描的客觀對象，逐漸發展為具有獨立意涵的主體，表現法亦隨著思維轉換而產生新樣式。

在1972年作品<仙人掌>中，球體形水果位於相較遠處，類似作為空間與色調的對照關係物體;之後橘子系列發展出幾個風格，其一是具有自然氣息與日常生活連結的寫實作品∶ 一個剛剝開的橘子、桌上一盤象徵新年吉祥的水果、垂掛枝頭上尚未採收的柑橘、搶新上市青綠未除的新鮮果子等，以單純的構圖與俯角透視空間，呈現畫家與物象間的心理對應及視覺關係。

The Orange series is an important theme of Huang Tsai Lang's paintings, from the objective subject of his early still life sketches to progressively becoming a subject with an independent connotation, and his expression has also developed new styles with the shift of thinking. In the 1972 work "Cactus", the spherical fruit is located at a distance, similar to a contrasting spatial and chromatic object; later, the orange series developed several styles, one of which is a realistic work with a natural atmosphere and a connection to daily life: a freshly peeled orange, a plate of fruit on the table symbolizing the auspicious New Year, a tangerine hanging on a branch that has not yet been harvested, and a fresh fruit that has not yet removed its green color. 

The simple composition and the overhead perspective space present the psychological correspondence and visual relationship between the painter and the objects.
